Mozilla’s Firefox Adds AI Killswitch To Firefox Browser

New settings allow users to disable built-in AI features and limit data sharing within the Firefox browser.

Mozilla announced new AI controls for its Firefox browser, including a setting that lets users disable integrated AI features.

According to Mozilla, the new controls are designed to give users greater visibility and choice over how AI-powered features operate within the browser. The update introduces a centralized settings panel where users can manage AI tools and disable them if desired.

Mozilla stated that users can turn off AI features through a dedicated toggle in Firefox settings. The company said this “AI controls” feature allows users to decide whether AI tools are active in the browser and whether certain data is shared to support those features.

The changes apply to Firefox users globally and are being rolled out as part of a browser update. Mozilla said the controls are intended to provide transparency and user choice.

In its blog post, Mozilla said the update reflects its approach to privacy and user control, stating that users “should have meaningful choices” about how AI features are used in their browsers.

The announcement follows broader industry efforts to integrate AI capabilities into consumer software products. Mozilla said the new controls are available in the latest version of Firefox and can be accessed through the browser’s settings menu.
