e& and IBM unveil enterprise-grade agentic AI to transform governance and compliance

The initiative embeds agentic artificial intelligence into policy, risk, and compliance systems at e& to provide traceable, governed decision support.

Global technology group e& and IBM announced a strategic collaboration to deploy enterprise-grade agentic AI within e&’s governance, risk, and compliance operations at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

The initiative introduces an AI solution built on IBM watsonx Orchestrate, integrated with IBM’s OpenPages governance, risk, and compliance platform and the broader watsonx portfolio. The AI is designed to help employees and auditors access and interpret legal, regulatory, and compliance information and provide clear, traceable responses under enterprise governance requirements.

According to e& and IBM, the agentic AI system moves beyond traditional natural language processing chatbots by enabling reasoning, task orchestration, and integration with core enterprise systems under governance controls. Am eight week joint proof-of-concept delivered by IBM, Gulf Business Machines, and e& demonstrated the technology operating at enterprise scale in real-world conditions.

“Our ambition is to move beyond isolated AI use cases toward enterprise-scale agentic AI that is trusted, governed, and deeply integrated into how the organization operates,” said Hatem Dowidar, group CEO, e&. “By collaborating with IBM, we are embedding intelligence directly into our risk and compliance processes, enabling faster decisions, consistent policy interpretation, and a foundation for broader agentic AI adoption across the enterprise.”

IBM officials said the agentic AI will support 24/7 self-service access across the organization while aligning with enterprise governance requirements through IBM watsonx.governance. The deployment demonstrates the integration of AI that can act and provide explainable results within compliance and other enterprise domains.

The collaboration remains at the deployment stage, with the solution embedded into e&’s existing systems following the proof of concept.
